IDBM Master’s Degree

International Design Business Management is an interdisciplinary graduate program at Aalto University, Helsinki, Finland.

Since 1995, IDBM has delivered world-class multidisciplinary education and systemic research. The curriculum integrates business, design and technology to enable students to address challenges of tomorrow.

Through challenge-based learning in the fields of management, business modeling, and product and service design, students develop the skillset necessary to manage interdisciplinary teams dealing with complex challenges. The learning experience is supported by real-life industry projects in which students use their previously acquired knowledge and expand their professional capabilities through intensive teamwork.

After the two-year program students graduate with a master’s degree in business, design or technology, and extensive interdisciplinary teamwork experience.

Program structure

The first year studies of the IDBM program are composed of track specific compulsory modules and a six-month long industry project. During the second year, students can complement their studies with exchange and minor studies or choose additional courses depending on their interest and track requirements.

 

IDBM Minor Study Tracks

The IDBM Minor studies combine the very best bits of IDBM into a condense learning experience. Students join the IDBM community to learn IDBM core skills and collaborate with different disciplines and backgrounds in transdisciplinary teamwork settings.

FItech Track

Any Background, 25 ECTS

In collaboration with FITech, the Finnish Institute of Technology, IDBM is proud to offer a new transdisciplinary minor study track that combines online learning and hands-on real-life challenges. You can apply with any university bachelor’s background.

Industry Track

Aalto Students, 25 ECTS

Running from Fall 2019 to Spring 2020, the Industry Minor offers students a possibility to complete the 5 month long, hands-on industry project with one of our renowned industry partners. Students tackle real-life challenges in transdisciplinary teamwork.
